Hi Paul,

Good to hear from you! Thanks for your questions and for taking an interest!

Firstly, I'll be trying to answer the question "by constitution" i.e. especially by the Thirty-Nine Articles, (although I'll be touching on the Book of Common Prayer and Homilies as well).

Secondly, I'm hoping to try to define "Protestant, Evangelical and Reformed" in the first part of my series, and then answer the question based on those definitions. I'll try to be faithful to how they have been the theologically and historically defined.

Thirdly, the Cricket Club question is an interesting one. I hope these thoughts make sense! Assumuing there was a constitution in which (i) English people established and (ii) promised to maintain that (iii) the ultimate of Quintessential Englishness was a Cricket Club, then, (iv) I'd argue, that a Cricket Club would be the ultimate in being Quintessentially English even (v) if people decided to ignore it. (Ignore cricket!?) What do you think?

Finally, thanks for the reminder - Amen to being graceful about truth and truthful about grace. I'm really concious that I want to do both. Please let me know if you think I'm not!

Hi Chris
Grand plans indeed!
Looks like a book in the making.
Minor thinks: Your question "Is the Church of England Protestant, Evangelical and Reformed" - do you mean by constitution or in practice? If the former - by who's definition? And if the latter, which bit of the church? Praps you could post a parallel discussion to illustrate the point: Is a Cricket Club the ultimate in being Quintessentially English?
Bon Chance
